Holiday Happenings in Mystic

What’s not to love about the holiday season?! Everything is always so beautifully decorated and there is nothing like walking around and taking in the bright holiday lights, especially when in Mystic. Get ready for this December to be the most magical one yet!!

Mystic Tree Lighting & Lighted Boat Parade

Looking for the perfect event to get the holiday’s started? Saturday, November 27 welcomes the perfect event for you and your family or friends! Located in Historic Downtown Mystic, thousands gather at the Mystic River Park to watch Santa arrive on a tugboat at precisely 2pm. Children will absolutely adore this and to make matters better the festivities continue with the lighting of the Christmas tree at 6pm. This is an excellent event to get in the holiday spirit and it is a beautiful and unforgettable experience for yourself and your family. We hope to see you there!

Downtown Mystic Stroll

On December 7th, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm stroll the festive streets of Downtown Mystic and enjoy the voices of carolers as you wander from store to store. The stores will be staying open late in order for you to get some Christmas shopping done while you are enjoying the hot cider and goodies that they are giving out. The stores on the strip offer a wide variety so you can find gifts for everyone! Downtown Mystic is stunning especially when the streets are decorated so we highly recommend checking it out!

Holiday Lights Spectacular

The Holiday Lights Spectacular in Olde Mystic Village is back! It is the largest holiday light display in southern New England and it is right at your fingertips! The great thing about this holiday happening is that it goes all the way until January so you have plenty of time to check it out, more than once too! While you check out the lights you can also enjoy the incredible restaurants and shops that OMV has to offer. Nothing compares to strolling the outside shopping mall during the holiday season so you definitely will want to check it out if you haven’t already!

Lantern Light Village

The Lantern Light Village at Mystic Seaport Museum is a wonderful experience to enjoy with your family or friends. There are multiple days to experience the event, so if you can’t make it one day, you have more opportunities! The event starts on December 10th and the last day to visit is the 22nd. There are a variety of fun activities you can enjoy such as lighting displays, live music, horse and carriage rides, and much more! Want to find out more about the event? Check out Mystic Seaport Museum’s website and you can purchase tickets there as well! This is a must during the holiday season! Can’t wait to see you there.

Sometimes you just need to relax and grab a beer. Mystic, CT  has some great options for you and you will not leave disappointed. Treat yourself to a beer or two at some of our favorite spots. Check them out below!

Barley Head Brewery 

Barley Head Brewery is located in the heart of downtown Mystic and is the perfect place if you are looking to grab a beer. They have a wide variety and there is something for everyone! Above all else, their ingredients are also sourced locally. They are open Thursday through Sunday so be sure to stop in if you are looking for a place to sit back and relax with a beer in hand.

The Harp and Hound 

The Harp and Hound is an Irish pub located in Mystic, CT. It is a fan favorite place especially if you are looking for a place to enjoy a beer either by yourself or with friends and family! They have a great selection of draft or bottled beer to satisfy whatever you prefer. They are open Monday through Sunday so be sure to check out their website for more information or follow them on Instagram @mysticharpandhound.

Jealous Monk 

The Jealous Monk is a fan favorite and is located in Olde Mystic Village. Whether you are looking for a place to grab a meal and a drink or you are just looking for a place to enjoy tasteful beer, this is the place to be! They have over 32 craft beers on tap so you are sure to find more than one that you love. They have new and exciting flavors and styles of beer from all over the world. This place is a definite must.

Guys Weekend in Mystic

Thinking about taking a weekend away with the guys? Mystic is the spot to go! There are a ton of places to grab a beer, relax, and enjoy your time with your buddies. Not sure where to go? Check out a few of the places we recommend!

Mystic Harp & Hound 

Looking for a spot to start off your week? Stop by Harp and Hound and grab a beer and cheesesteak egg rolls! Once you walk in you will feel like you have walked into a small country pub  in Ireland. It is the prime spot to start your weekend off right. There is a wide variety of Irish and Scottish whiskies and dishes to choose from. They also host live music weekly! Be sure to check them out if you are planning on a guys weekend.

Steak Loft Restaurant

It isn’t a guys weekend unless you dine at a steak restaurant. Steak Loft is located in Olde Mystic Village and is open for dinner 7 days a week. It is Mystic’s best steak house and is a sister restaurant to Go Fish. If you are looking for a good steak dinner this is the place for you. Engine Room 

Last stop on the list! Check out Engine Room for a Sunday brunch. Every Sunday from 10am to 2pm! Engine Room is located in the restored Lathrop Marine Engine building and has beautiful views of the Mystic River. There is a variety of craft beers on top and features a creative American menu. Sometimes you just need to get away with the guys for the weekend. Mystic is the place to visit if you are looking for the prime location. If you are looking for a unique shop, there are plenty to choose from when you visit Olde Mistick Village! Extra Virgin Oil Store 

You can never go wrong with getting new and fresh olive oil! This gem has a tasting room so that you can embrace their delicious flavors before walking out with your favorite oils and vinegars! They specialize in handcrafted infused oils, vinegars, pastas, sauces and soups right from Italy. If you love to cook, this is the place for you! Be sure to check out their Instagram page @extravirginoilstore to dive deeper for information on their fresh oils!

The Boardwalk 

Vacationing in Mystic and want to bring back some souvenirs or gifts for friends and family? The Boardwalk in Olde Mystic Village has so much to offer, with a wide range of coastal and seaside themed gifts! Their store is bright, fun and exciting and you will not walk out empty handed. Not only do they have awesome gifts but they also offer delicious sweets such as fresh squeezed lemonade, ice cream and more! It is a must see in Mystic Country!

Mystic Kite Shop

Located in Olde Mistick Village, the Mystic Kite Shop is a visual feast of displayed whirligigs, kites and balloons. While kites are abundant in this shop, that’s not the only thing you will find. You will also find air toys and wind chimes. Mystic Kite Shop has the best selection of kites around. Why not pick your favorite kites and go fly them overlooking the water in beautiful downtown Mystic?

Cloak and Wand

This fantastical shop is a little bit magical and a little bit whimsical. Owner and potion master E.P Bergreen continues her family’s rich legacy of uniting the magical and non-magical communities by providing custom potions, magical items and unique spells to everyone regardless of ability or talent. You can visit the potion bar and choose a potion for any ailment – all locally sourced magical ingredients! After you get your drink of choice you can then move on to the “Dark Corner” where you will find dark magic items, choose a cloak or wand from their “Wizards and Witches On Demand” spot,  or visit the “Haunted Portraits Gallery” where if you are lucky, you may catch one of the paintings moving! Cloak and Wand provides a bit of magic for everyone in your party!

Adventure Mystic 

What better way to spend your Saturday in the summer than out on the water? Adventure Mystic offers paddle board, kayak, and bike rentals! It is a great way to spend time with your family or friends. They also offer full moon and nightly paddles, yoga, and scenic bike tours! If you are interested, be sure to visit their website to see what they have to offer. This spot is a great place to spend your Saturday afternoon and if you are traveling with kids, they will love it too!

Mystic Seaport Museum 

Mystic Seaport Museum is a must when visiting Mystic. It features authentic buildings and has friendly and knowledgeable staff to teach you about life in the 1800’s. It is also a great place to visit with your children as they can dress like a sailor and visit the Children’s museum and learn about the ship’s sail and hull design at the Discovery Barn. Olde Mystic Village 

Olde Mystic Village is an outdoor shopping space set in a recreated 18th century New England Village. You can wander through the village and check out their duck pond and water wheel. On top of that they have a variety of shops and restaurants, so if you are looking to spend your Saturday afternoon out and about, this is the place! Grab a map on your way in and see what the village has to offer! It is a great place to go with kids, friends, or even by yourself! Olde Mystic Village is one of Connecticut’s prized possessions and you will not be disappointed!
